Cranberry Orange Smoothie – Two Ways (Gluten-free, Dairy-free, Sugar-free)

You may have noticed that I love smoothies –
Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice Green Smoothie **(one of the most popular Made to Glow recipes)
Fresh Fig Green Smoothie
Tropical Green Smoothie
and more featured on the Made to Glow Instagram and Facebook accounts. They’re easy to make, they’re a quick way to increase your servings of fruits and vegetables each day, and they’re fun to customize with different flavors combinations.

Cranberry Orange Smoothie -- 2 Ways Gluten-free, Dairy-free, Sugar-free

Cranberry Orange Smoothie

With the holidays approaching, I knew I wanted to take advantage of some of seasonal produce to feature in a smoothie, so here I present the Cranberry Orange Smoothie… 2 ways! One with just fruit and also one with greens – as I know some people love their green smoothies, while others not so much. Choose your favorite or then make them both!

They are the perfect combination of tart and sweet. They’re also SO good for you – full of vitamin C, fiber, and an awesome array of phytonutrients.

Cranberry Orange Green Smoothie (Gluten-free, Dairy-free, Sugar-free)
1/2 of a blender of greens, loosely packed (about 4 cups loosely packed) - I used Trader Joe’s Power Greens mix of baby kale, spinach, and chard
1 large frozen banana
1/2 cup of unsweetened coconut milk from the carton or other nondairy milk
1/2 cup fresh cranberries
1 large orange, peeled
3-5 dates (depending on how sweet you like your smoothies) – start with 3 dates, taste, then add more if needed

Add all of the ingredients to your blender and blend on high until creamy.

Notes:
- Soak the dates beforehand if you don’t have a high powered blender.
- Peel and chop spotted bananas into chunks and then freeze so they’re always on hand.
- If you don’t drink it all at once, store it in a glass jar (mason jars work well or re-use nut butter jars) in the fridge. When ready to drink, simply shake it up!

By the way, the glass straw in the first picture is from Glass Dharma. They’re a cool company that started glass straws that are safer (non-toxic and no BPA) and more eco-friendly than plastic. They’ve just sent me samples, so I’ll be doing a review and giveaway in a few weeks – keep your eyes out for it!
