I’m starting a new series called Motivation Music and have to say I’m pretty excited about it! Listening to music is one of my absolute favorite things in the world.
Music has always had a huge impact on my life, especially when I was not feeling great. It’s kind of like therapy to me!
One of my favorite self-care tools is movement. I LOVE to dance – whether by myself in my apartment, in my zumba/hip-hop classes, or with my girlfriends! I turn on some of my favorite songs and just move my body. It helps get my blood flowing and really motivates me to get up and go. From pumping you up to helping you relax, music can be very helpful in your self-care routine.
For this series, I will post playlists along a different theme each time. Whether 70’s funk, 90’s alternative, Motown classics, booty-poppin jams, or current pop hits, I’ll have you covered. I hope you find that the songs get you up, inspired, and ready to conquer your day!
I’m a huge fan of mashups. Fun snippets of all of your favorite songs blended into one long song. If the DJ is good, the song will flow seamlessly with some crazy twists and turns. Girl Talk was my first foray into mashups and I’ve loved the creativity and electrifying energy of them since. And mashups kind of remind me of music at weddings — usually full of pop music that gets you off your feet and onto the dance floor. These are definitely dance-worthy.
DJ Earworm – SummerMash ’13 – I saw this youtube clip on Facebook (thanks, Allegra!) and had to share. It’s the end of the summer and although these songs are getting a little overplayed somehow when they come all together it sounds awesome!
Mashup Mix 2013 – Foo Fighters, Journey, Avicii, and more.
18 Minute Pop Mash Up Compilation of 2013 – So many fun songs in this one!
DJ Earworm – Top Pop US Mix 2007-2012 – Great compilation.
