Hey friends, as I wait for the baby to arrive, I thought it would be fun to give a 9-month pregnancy update. I’m 39 weeks along, and feeling great! I just started maternity leave, and am resting, nesting, and trying not to obsess about when he’ll finally get here.
Days left till due date: Less than 1 week! Time has flown by. It seems like I just posted the baby announcement on MTG yesterday.
Feeling: Excited, nervous, and ready to meet this little guy. The uncertainty of when it will happen is a bit overwhelming, so I’m trying to stay zen… what a huge lesson in patience!
Otherwise, I’ve been feeling fortunate to be feeling so good. I’m loving being pregnant, and now that I’m taking some time off work to rest, I’ve been really enjoying these last weeks. After a bit of a rocky start to the pregnancy, I’ve been happy and healthy for the past few months, and have been focusing on taking care of myself and the baby. Baby is developing right on target, and moving, stretching, and hiccuping his way around my belly.
Craving: Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate (this zucchini-filled Fudgy Flourless Brownie recipe has been my go-to), pickles, potato chips (Jackson’s Honest Sea Salt and Vinegar are amazing), and coconut milk ice cream (I’m keeping So Delicious and Coconut Bliss in business). Devouring a brownie sundae has become my nightly ritual, and I’m loving it. Check out my pregnancy eats on the MTG Instagram.
Snuggling: My Snoogle pregnancy body pillow is a life-saver for my back and hips, and I don’t go to bed without my sleep mask — totally strange, but even if it’s still dark out, wearing an eye mask helps me fall back to sleep after my numerous trips to the bathroom each night. Pregnancy insomnia is no joke!
Wearing: Leggings, tanks, sports bras, and flip flops — my official 9-month uniform. Target and Motherhood Maternity have affordable, comfortable maternity leggings and tanks if you’re on the hunt!
Slathering: EO Everyone Lotion in Coconut + Lemon — this has been the best lotion for helping me avoid stretch marks on my belly. I’m obsessed with it as it’s lightweight for summer, absorbs very quickly, and has a light citrusy-vanilla scent (my favorite combo). Also, I’ve been hanging out at the pool a lot as floating in the cool water feels like heaven with this big belly… Coola face and body eco-friendly sunscreens have saved my skin!
Nesting: In full force, in between sessions with my feet up on the couch. The nursery is almost done (I’ll post about my favorite eco-friendly nursery and baby items soon), our house is relatively clean, and the fridge/freezer is stocked. Thankful to have that stuff done!
Exercising: Although I’m prioritizing rest, I’m moving my body as much as I can by walking with Kaya almost every day. Hip openers, squats, and other lower back and hip stretches are also sparing me from spending too much time at the chiropractor, although the prenatal adjustments are wonderful.
Indulging: I’m looking forward to a haircut and pedicure this week! Self-care = a happy mama-to-be.
