Today I’m sharing what’s in my makeup bag! I get asked all the time about which eco-friendly makeup and body products I use, and which brands I trust, so I thought I’d share my favorites.
Did you miss Part 1 of this series? Check out my 8 Tips to Making the Switch to Eco-Friendly Beauty Products here.
As I mentioned in Part 1 of this series, I’ve been slowly switching over to safer cosmetics over the past few years (make sure to check-out my tips about how to save money and find brands you trust). I have very sensitive skin, so even some of the non-toxic makeup products still irritate my face. The products I’m sharing today work for me, but everyone is different. For the most part, I look for products with an EWG Skin Deep score of less than 3.
AND, this is super important… I’m not perfect, but I do my best to limit the amount of conventional cosmetics I use.
I’m still searching for some safer eye liners, concealer, and bronzer but haven’t found them yet. I believe that switching even a product or two to one that is more eco-friendly helps, even if you can’t do it all.
While I wish I felt confident without make-up on an everyday basis, I’m not a big fan of the deep purple bags under my eyes that I’ll forever have (thanks to genetics and allergies). And, sometimes a girl just likes to get dressed up and play around with some beautiful make-up!
I love them so much, I’ve become an affiliate! If you purchase using the links below, Made to Glow will receive a very small percentage, but at no extra cost to you.
So, here it is… when I don’t want to go bare-faced, here’s what I use:
Honest Beauty Eye Shadow Trio in Smoky Gray and Soft Sand
Beautycounter Color Shade Eye Duo in Malt/Shell
I just found out about these eye shadows and love how smooth they go on and how long they last!
Mineral Fusion Mascara in Jet
The first natural mascara I’ve tried that actually works to darken and thicken my blond, sparse lashes.
Beautycounter also just came out with a brand new lengthening mascara, and I can’t wait to try it!
Clinique Quickliners – not natural, but the only eye liner I can find that goes on smoothly (without tugging!) and lasts all day.
Honest Beauty Eye Brow Pencil in Warm Auburn
I was nervous to shade/pencil my brows, but this magic tool gives me natural, fuller-looking brows in just a few seconds. What a difference!
Jane Iredale PurePressed Base Mineral Foundation in Radiant
I’m not a big liquid foundation fan, so this light powder helps set my concealor/highlighter and also provide 20 SPF.
Neutrogena Skin Blends Natural Radiance Bronzer in Sunkissed
Trish McEvoy Correct & Brighten Highlighter. I’m also going to try Beautycounter’s Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer which has won tons of awards, and their Touchup Skin Concealer Pen.
Honest Beauty Lip Gloss in Generous Kiss and Kind Kiss
I love these colors – they’re natural but also have a hint of color to make your eyes pop! It also has the perfect texture for a lip gloss.
Honest Beauty Truly Kissable Lip Crayon Sheer in Blossom Kiss, Petal Kiss, and Raspberry Kiss
Love, love, love these – subtle but noticable color and glides on smoothly. My first successful ‘crayon’ purchase – these are awesome.
Beautycounter Lip Gloss in Peony
I’m a huge gloss fan and this one even tastes and smells like vanilla (my fave)!
Beautycounter Lip Sheer in Petal
Pretty for work or nights out. Glides on with sheer rosey pink color.
Beautycounter Lip Shine
Perfect layered over sheers and crayons or on its own for a bit of shine.
Burt’s Bees Lip Shine
My mom turned me on to these – love the quick swipe of color.
Whole Foods Market 365 Organic Lip Balms
My all-time favorite chapsticks, I have about 5 of them floating around the house at different times.
Next week, I’ll share my favorite eco-friendly body products, hair products, nail polish, sunscreen, and more. Stay tuned!
