Happy 2015! Hope your new year is off to a glowing start.
Before I share a revamped, real food 7-layer dip (droooool… you’re going to want to make this one for the Superbowl), a decadent chocolate mousse (I eat this almost every week), and a nutrient-packed blueberry burst smoothie, I had to highlight some of my best ‘basics’ (i.e. fundamental healthy living tips).
Whether you’re doing a Whole30, starting a new exercise or meditation regime, or just have a desire to live healthier this year, good for you!
Setting the intention is the first step to change.
I’m here to help! I know many of you are have resolutions, goals, or new habits to keep, so I wanted to highlight some posts that may be helpful for you.
Healthy Fundamentals – Best of the Basics posts:
- Food prep, food prep, and food prep (click on each ‘food prep’ link for different tips!)
- Power up your mornings with these 3 easy steps
- Stay hydrated – 5 tips to get your water intake each day
- Make exercise a part of your routine – 15 ways to work movement into your day
- Work mindfulness into your everyday life
I’ve heard that many of you are ready to reset after the holidays. The Weekend Reboot 2-Day Detox is my favorite ‘get back to basics’ program (don’t let the word ‘detox’ scare you). It’s a terrific, 27-page ebook of recipes, shopping lists, and menu plans for you to customize for the two days (obviously you can do it again and again, not just two days). I like to do it after I travel – here’s a record of one of my Weekend Reboots.
I also know you guys are really into smoothies and juices.
Smoothies are made on the daily in my household (my husband has also turned into a smoothie-lover), so you can always find lots of recipes on Instagram, my Smoothies/Juices Pinterest board, or on my Smoothies and Juices recipe page.
I also love the Vibrant Life Cleanse Program and Cookbook. It has 55+ smoothie and juice recipes, or if cleanses are your thing, it’s got you covered with 7-, 9-, and 11-day cleanse programs. I love the smoothie recipes (freebie recipes here and here).

Also, did you know ALL of my recipes are gluten-free and dairy-free (or have an option) and most of my recipes are or can be modified to be paleo, Whole30, or sugar detox-compliant? Basically, I focus on using whole, unprocessed foods. #plantpower
I’ve been pretty quiet around here (due to several exciting MTG 2015 projects – more on these soon!), so I hope you’re keeping up with me on social media. I post my eats, new recipes, healthy living tips, and snapshots of my personal life on Instagram everyday.
Unfortunately, Facebook has been hiding my posts from you.
Literally, 2% of you are seeing my Facebook posts due to Facebook’s new algorithm, so here’s what you can do if you’d like to make sure you’re seeing them:
- “Like” the MTG Facebook page.
- Use a desktop computer to select “Following”
- Click “Get Notifications”
- Comment, share, and like the MTG Facebook posts – the more you actively engage with the MTG page, the more Facebook will show my posts in your feeds.
I’ll be back soon with an updated Chocolate Mousse recipe, a couple of fun giveaways, an awesome new cookbook review, and a mouth-watering 7-Layer Dip (that you can feel good about eating!).
Can’t wait. Cheers!
